An individual's afternoon ride took a harrowing turn in Otay Mesa yesterday. A 40-year-old man was riding his 2020 Yamaha Tenere 700 motorcycle down 8800 Paseo De La Fuente when he unexpectedly veered into oncoming traffic and collided with the surrounding environment. According to the San Diego Police Department, the motorcyclist crossed into the opposite lane and proceeded to crash against the north curb line, sending him up onto the sidewalk and against a dirt embankment.
Amidst a scenic East San Diego thoroughfare, the collision occurred at approximately 3:35 PM, where the rider sustained serious injuries. With an open displaced fracture to the arm, the man was rushed to a local hospital, where his injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, escaping the grim reaper this time. Officer J. Perales, who served as the Watch Commander, made it clear in the documentation that no alcohol was involved in the incident.
The SDPD also noted that this solo crash did not involve any other vehicles, potentially sparing others from the web of tragedy such an event could weave. As the San Diego Police Department Traffic Division takes the helm of the investigation, they urge the public to proceed with any potentially enlightening information.
