Two key bills introduced by Sen. Warren Hamilton have smoothly sailed through their respective Senate Committees in unanimous decisions.

The first, Senate Bill 96, requires any cell-cultured meats or foods containing insect protein to be clearly labeled to better inform consumers. "This legislation fosters transparency and promotes informed consent by requiring clear labeling of food products made from cell-cultured meats or insect protein, ensuring consumers are fully aware of what they are purchasing and consuming," Hamilton said, in a statement obtained by the Oklahoma Senate. The bill aims to distinguish between conventional agricultural products and those developed in labs or containing insect-derived components. By requiring such disclosures, consumers can utilize this information to align their purchase with personal preferences and health requirements.

Moreover, Senate Bill 445 which revises the age of consent from 16 to 18 years old, also saw unanimous support in the Senate Judiciary Committee. Sen. Hamilton championed the bill as a crucial step to "protect the most vulnerable members of our society—our children," as mentioned on the Oklahoma Senate website. He expressed his gratitude towards his colleagues for backing the legislation and emphasized the importance of additional safeguards to protect the youth of Oklahoma.

With the backing of the Senate Committees, both measures will now proceed to the full Senate for further consideration.
