
Early this morning, a house fire in Bethel Grove left one person critically injured. The Memphis Fire Department responded to the blaze at approximately 5:30 a.m. at a residence located on the 2600 block of Filmore Avenue. A statement provided by the Memphis Fire Department to WREG detailed that the first responders found an individual unresponsive in a back bedroom of the home, suffering from symptoms consistent with smoke inhalation.
The victim was quickly transported to Regional One Hospital in a condition described as critical. Efforts to quickly stabilize and treat the victim are currently underway to better ensure their chances of recovery. In a statement obtained by Action News 5, the Memphis Fire Department shared that the cause of the fire is believed to be an unintended, electrical accident. Officials estimated the damage to the property to be around $9,000, with an additional $3,500 lost in contents.
