Since its inception in 1974, the center has grown to become Palm Beach County’s premier institution for mental health care. According to the Palm Beach County website, Commissioner Woodward was on hand to deliver a proclamation that honored the center's unwavering service to the community.

What began as a modest facility has expanded into a full-service community mental health center that offers inpatient and outpatient care, alongside a breadth of other services. Despite the changes that have swept through the healthcare field over the past half-century, the center stands firm on its commitment to both short-term and long-term residential services. The center also delivers assistance through a mobile crisis team, capable of catering to the needs of patients at their homes, or wherever they might be situated in the community.

South County Mental Health Center remains dedicated to providing private, not-for-profit behavioral health services. As mental health care evolves, the center continues to adapt, incorporating new treatments to serve Palm Beach County residents. During the board meeting, the center's day program services were also recognized. These programs offer structured support for individuals facing mental health challenges, helping them stay engaged and aiding in their recovery.
