The Plymouth Police Department's "No Shave January Initiative" has effectively turned facial hair into fuel assistance fund, raising a commendable $8,545 for various charities. The news was shared on the Plymouth Police Department's official Facebook page.
The beard-growing initiative, which began in November, culminated during a bimonthly breakfast at the Center for Active Living. It was during this gathering that Lieutenant Marc Higgins had the privilege to directly distribute the proceeds to Michelle Bratti, Commissioner of Health & Human Services. While the officers' beards grew, so did their contribution pool. Money raised went on to support the Run to Home Base, Plymouth Area Coalition, and the Center for Active Living itself, as reported by the Plymouth Police Department.
The funds gathered are earmarked for those in need of fuel assistance, underscoring an authentic communal spirit where social warmth parallels physical warmth. Reflecting on the successful campaign, the Plymouth Police Department expressed its gratitude to all bearded participants: "A huge THANK YOU to our bearded officers for your generosity and commitment to making a difference!
