
An armed robbery in East Boca Raton has prompted a police investigation as three men are sought for allegedly stealing $250,000 from two victims at gunpoint. Boca Raton Police were called to the 600 block of NE 29th Place shortly after midnight yesterday, where the victims reported the robbery upon returning from a nearby casino. The assailants, described as black males in their 20s wearing dark clothing and masks, made off with cash, watches, phones, and a purse, according to information provided by CBS12.
The suspects approached the victims, who were getting out of their car, and pointed firearms at them, forcing them to relinquish their valuables. Boca News Now reports that the robbers also attempted to steal the vehicle before fleeing the scene. Adding to the victims' distress, a gun was stolen from their vehicle's center console.
Local authorities are now scouring for any footage that could provide insight into the identity of a criminals and the events leading up to the theft. The Boca Raton Police Department asks residents in the vicinity to check their home exterior camera footage and come forward with any pertinent information that might aid in the investigation.
Detective Alfredo Lima, named in connection with the ongoing case, is the point of contact for anyone with information. In a disheartening development, while the victims' phones were later recovered, they were found extensively damaged in the middle of a roadway, the condition of which further complicates the evidential trail.
