A man was detained by police in Riverton, Utah, on suspicion of illicitly filming a 17-year-old girl at a local gym. The incident, recorded at VASA Fitness, involved the suspect, identified as Justan Grover, 36, allegedly capturing photos or videos of the minor as she undressed in a tanning booth. As reported by FOX13, Grover faces charges of voyeurism and sexual exploitation of a minor, with the latter being a felony.
The ordeal began when the girl noticed a mobile phone peeking out from a gap between the floor and the wall of the booth. After she screamed, the phone was swiftly pulled back, only to reappear shortly thereafter, prompting another scream from the girl. "She finished tanning and left the gym," as per Sacramento Bee, which detailed the February 5th violation.
Riverton Police were alerted to the episode after the teen consulted with a friend and informed her family, leading to her father's engagement with the authorities. Following the complaint, surveillance footage corroborated the victim's statement. Grover was documented coming into the booth area with his phone out during the timeframe of the incident, aligning with the details provided by KUTV.
Grover's actions have elicited responses from VASA patrons, including Rockwell Babcock, a gymgoer who told KUTV, "That’s wild, that’s really awful. I think it’s one thing to record yourself working out or hitting a PR, but that’s sick." A judge has since mandated that Grover is to be held without bail, as the investigation into the occurrence persists.
