Mesilla Park residents and visitors will need to plan for some travel adjustments as the County Road Department initiates a fog-sealing treatment on various streets starting today. According to Doña Ana County, the work will cover Santanova Arc, Sanctuary Ave., San Leonardo Court, San Bonifacio Arc, Santa Lucia Arcade, San Pascual St., and Vista Del Monte in Picacho Hills.
The process involves applying an asphalt emulsion to the roads to seal up minor cracks and restore flexibility, to prolong their lifespan. While the maintenance is underway, street access may be limited but not fully closed, with potential reductions to a single lane. Drivers should anticipate these changes to persist until the projected completion on Friday, Feb. 28.
Although all targeted roads will stay open during this period, the county has alerted that delays should be expected as work is carried out. Commuters are being advised to exercise caution and patience, to pay close attention to traffic signs, and to drive at lower speeds near the affected zones for the safety of the road crew and their equipment.
Doña Ana County officials have expressed their commitment to keeping inconvenience at a minimum during this essential road work. Nonetheless, they are preparing local motorists for the inevitable disruptions such construction work entails. With these efforts, the county aims not just to maintain, but to thoroughly enhance the structural integrity of the local roads for the long-term benefit of the community.
