According to the San Francisco Fire Department, they are not conducting such fundraising efforts. With a scam as cheeky as this one, they've been quick to distance themselves from any association and commend the local businesses that brought this to their attention. "We will NEVER ask for such a donation," the department affirmed, drawing a line firmly against these underhanded tactics.
While it might seem like a given not to divulge personal or business information over the phone to unsolicited callers, the department felt it necessary to reiterate this advice.
