A confrontation between a security guard and an individual outside a Burger King in Dorchester escalated into gun violence on Saturday evening, leaving one person injured. The incident, first reported by the Boston Globe, took place at the fast-food location at 100 Washington Street at about 9:22 p.m. The Boston Police Department responded to the scene where the 30-year-old security guard, exhibiting injuries to his head, eye, and mouth, was found.
According to Officer Mark Marron, a spokesperson for the Boston Police Department, the wounded 32-year-old man had already fled the vicinity after being shot. Attempting to avoid the authorities, he boarded an MBTA bus only to be later located by police and transported to Boston Medical Center with injuries that were considered non-life-threatening. The man, found by police, received medical attention following the incident, as noted in an article by WCVB.
According to police statements, the altercation began when the man stared at the security guard, made threats concerning the guard's firearm, and refused to depart from the premises. This confrontation turned violent once it moved outside, leading to a physical struggle. "Fearing for his safety and potential disarmament, the guard drew his firearm. During the struggle, he discharged a single round, striking the suspect," Officer Marron said in a statement obtained by the Boston Globe.
An ongoing investigation into the shooting is being conducted by the Boston Police Department. The names of the man and the security guard involved in the incident have not been released up to this point.
