State Sen. Scott Baldwin welcomed a group of local students to the Statehouse as part of the Senate page program. The students, who hail from various high schools and a middle school in the Noblesville and Carmel areas, had the opportunity to serve as Senate pages in January and February, as per Indiana Senate Republicans press release.
Among those who participated, Cross Adams and Anika Veerapaneni attend Carmel High School, while their fellow Carmel resident, Jackson Hanners, goes to Clay Middle School. As part of their day, they received a hands-on experience in state government workings. Exploring the historic building, they were able to witness the debates that shape Indiana's legislative landscape right from the Senate floor. Specifically designed for local youths, this initiative by Sen. Baldwin seeks to engage students in public service and inspire civic involvement.
Noblesville was represented by Emma Duell, Jonas Harley, Hadden Irwin, and Kingsley Southard, all attending Noblesville High School. During their time as pages, they had the unique chance to interact directly with Sen. Baldwin and ask questions about the legislative process.
Completing the list of participants, Mia Smith and Kylee Zoba, also from Carmel, were present, taking part in the activities at the Statehouse. Engaged in their local community and showing an early interest in civil duties, these students took steps that might inspire their continued participation in governance and advocacy. The page program, aiming to demystify the political process for the youth, evidently made an impact on these students, as they walked the halls filled with the weight of Indiana's legislative history.
The Senate page program provides an educational experience that goes beyond the typical classroom setting. Students interested in participating are encouraged to reach out for more information and visit www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Page-Program.
