The Krewe of Lul parade kicks off on Saturday, followed by the Krewe of Des Allemands parade on Sunday. The Sheriff's Office has shared details about road closures and safety tips to help everyone enjoy the festivities safely.
The Krewe of Lul Mardi Gras Parade, which starts at noon on Saturday, will result in closures along Paul Maillard Road from Hackberry Street to River Road, River Road between Paul Maillard and Sugarhouse Road, and all of Sugarhouse Road and Angus Drive. These closures are scheduled to begin at 11:45 a.m. and could last up to four hours. For those in need to reach the hospital during the parade, the sheriff's office advises calling 911 and providing details of your vehicle and route.
The Krewe of Des Allemands parade is on March 2 at 1:00 p.m. Roads will be closed from 12:45 p.m. to about 3:00 p.m. on US 90 (Mitchell Lane to WPA Road) and US 90 Business / Old Spanish Trail (Whitley Road to Bayou Des Allemands). A contraflow will help with traffic during the parade.
As a reminder to the community, the sheriff's office invites everyone to "Join us in celebrating Mardi Gras in St. Charles Parish" and urges parade-goers to "come out and enjoy the festivities responsibly." Both parades are key local traditions, bringing the community together with music, color, and Mardi Gras cheer.
