
A Lauderhill police officer and a female pedestrian were hospitalized following a deliberate hit-and-run incident in Sunrise, with the officer sustaining multiple injuries after being struck repeatedly by a vehicle. The attack, which occurred around 5:35 p.m. yesterday in the 8200 block of Sunset Strip, was caught on dashcam footage showing an SUV veering off the road, hitting the officer and woman near North University Drive, as reported by CBS News Miami.
Witnesses described the scene where the driver circled back to hit the officer multiple times, "He plainly tried to kill him," Diondre Noel, a witness to the incident, told CBS News Miami, following the attack, the suspect fled the scene but was promptly detained by law enforcement and at least 10 officers were sighted during the arrest of the suspect whose identity has not yet been disclosed.
The injured officer, who was reportedly investigating a crime at the time of the attack, and the woman were both transported to Broward Health Medical Center, as per the WSVN. While the officer's condition was described as stable, the woman's condition has not been updated.
