Early Sunday morning in Scottsdale, tragedy struck when a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle whose driver has since been arrested. According to ABC15, Scottsdale police responded to the incident around 3:45 a.m. near Hayden and Indian School roads, finding a man seriously injured by a car. The unnamed man was quickly transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver involved in the collision was taken into custody under the suspicion of driving under the influence. As reported by 12News, further details on the pedestrian's current condition have yet not to become available. The investigation is ongoing, temporarily closing parts of the roadway to traffic.
The Scottsdale Police Department confirmed that while eastbound lanes have reopened, westbound traffic from 82nd Street to Hayden Road was advised to seek alternate routes as part of the roadway remained closed for investigation. The authorities are still piecing together the events that led to the accident. The names of the driver and the injured pedestrian have not been released to the public yet.
