This Wednesday, the foundation responded quickly to a call for help from the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office (OPSO), delivering a six-month supply of baby formula and diapers to an infant in need — a direct consequence of the mother's current incarceration at the Orleans Justice Center.
According to the OPSO's Facebook post, the foundation did not hesitate to quickly come forward when a grandmother and father reached out for aid. The foundation's commitment to breaking barriers extends beyond just donations, actively seeking to also alleviate the ripple effects that incarceration can have on families.
The Thurman Perry Foundation's dedication to supporting women and girls affected by the criminal justice system is made clear through their ongoing program, which supplies sanitary napkins monthly to female inmates.
