An on-duty Tipton County Sheriff’s deputy, identified as Sgt. Dylan Vetor, sustained minor injuries in a collision yesterday morning near the intersection of State Road 28 and County Road 725 West. According to FOX59 report, the incident occurred before 3:50 a.m. when the deputy's squad car was hit by a second vehicle, whose driver allegedly disregarded a stop sign.

Reportedly travelling westbound on State Road 28, the deputy was struck by the vehicle headed northbound on County Road 725 West, as reported by WTHR. The Tipton County Sheriff’s Office requested that the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office conduct the crash investigation, which led to the conclusion that the occupants of the second vehicle may have been intoxicated.

Further complicating the investigation, deputies found the occupants of the civilian vehicle uncooperative, with neither admitting to being the driver at the time of the crash. Warrants were obtained for blood samples of the two civilians. "Both individuals were released from police custody after blood draws were performed," detailed the report from FOX59.

After his vehicle was towed to Miller’s Towing and Transport, Sgt. Vetor was transported to IU Health Tipton where he was treated for injuries described as minor and was released, according to a statement obtained by WISH-TV. As the investigation continues, the civilian vehicle involved in the crash was towed to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office for further processing.

Additional information on the incident or the status of the investigation has not been released as of this article’s publication.
