A Weber County Deputy, identified as Zachary Anderson, 38, is currently on administrative leave after an arrest in January on accusations of domestic violence and intoxication. According to ABC4, Anderson was charged with misdemeanor assault and intoxication, and he has been released from jail on a $1,500 bail, with a pretrial hearing pending.
Details emerging from the case show that on Jan. 16, a verbal argument at a home in Sunset escalated into physical violence. KUTV reports that the arresting officer's account stated Anderson "used unlawful force against the victim by striking her face with the back of his hand." This incident, stemming from a domestic dispute, casts a long shadow over the law enforcement community, where trust and accountability, are the bedrock of public service.
Further corroborating the allegations, Salt Lake Tribune obtained court documents recounting the victim's statement. She claimed that her husband, Anderson, had hit her, which was supported by a visible red mark observed on her face by officers. The victim's claim has raised questions about the handling of domestic violence incidents by law enforcement personnel, and whether this pattern of behavior goes unnoticed or unchecked within the ranks.
