Forecasters are cautioning that such blustery conditions could disrupt day-to-day activities, with the potential to scatter unsecured belongings and even bring down tree limbs.
Travel could get rough as the NWS warns "Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles," it's advised that those hitting the road be particularly vigilant throughout the day today lest they find themselves wrestling with the steering wheel, additionally, the risk of power outages is on the table, given the advisory. Area residents and commuters should also keep in mind that the weather shift includes a spike in temperatures, a climb to a high near 63 degrees today with sunshine, before a dip back down tonight to a chillier 31 degrees.
In the coming days, Indianapolis will see a mix of sun and clouds, with some rain and even snow possible midweek. Temperatures will range from the mid-30s to high 50s, and while today’s weather will be windy, rain and thunderstorms are expected by Tuesday, boasting a "chance of precipitation is 70%" according to the NWS forecast. Looking ahead to next week, periods of rain seem to be a looming theme, climaxed by a likelihood of rain and snow come Wednesday night, although chances slim down to 30%.
Residents in counties from Carroll to Bartholomew should prepare for strong winds today and stay alert for rapidly changing weather in the coming days. There’s a 40% chance of rain Monday night, with heavier showers expected by midweek.
