A woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash that occurred last August in Boynton Beach, which resulted in two deaths and several injuries. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office reported that Mariela Alfaro-Canales was taken into custody yesterday, as she faces accusations of driving without a valid license in an incident that led to the tragic loss of life.
Details provided by CBS12 outlined that the accident unfolded on August 30, when Alfaro-Canales, then 25, attempted to cross the intersection at South State Road 7 while driving a Toyota Corolla. Their vehicle infringed upon another southbound Toyota Rav 4's right of way, which led to a collision with severe consequences.
The impact resulted in the Corolla rolling over, causing two passengers, Yulissa Medrano Perez, 40, and Roben Desarmes, 52, to be violently ejected from the vehicle, both of whom did not survive the incident. PBSO's crash report indicated that four other individuals sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Adding to the narrative, a report by Boca News Now disclosed details of the arrest. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Warrants unit captured Alfaro-Canales at her Lake Worth home during a raid. She is currently facing charges: two counts of driving without a valid license and causing death, all while being held without bond.
