
An early morning dispute in Chicago's North Lawndale neighborhood escalated into gun violence Wednesday, leaving one woman critically injured. The incident occurred around 12:50 a.m. on the 1400 block of South Tripp Avenue, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. According to the Chicago Police, an argument between two women, known to one another, turned tragic when one woman, age 26, shot the other in the chest.
The victim was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in a critical state. The argument that led to the shooting began inside a house but subsequently spilled onto the sidewalk. It was there that the suspect approached and fired at the woman before fleeing the scene, according to ABC7 Chicago. As of now, the shooter has not been apprehended.
Detectives from Area 4 are currently leading the investigation into the shooting. Law enforcement officials have not released any details on the nature of the argument or the relationship between the two women involved.
The identity of the 26-year-old suspect is yet to be disclosed by the authorities amidst the ongoing investigation.
