The fire department, alongside the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD), launched a rescue operation. They quickly retrieved one person from the water, who was then rushed to the hospital for treatment. The search for the second individual extended late into the night, as teams utilized a range of high-tech equipment, including boats, thermal imaging cameras, drones, and floodlights, to scan the area exhaustively for the missing person. By 11:20 p.m., the San Francisco Fire Department had turned over the search operation to the SFPD, which continued to deploy drone technology in the ongoing search effort.
The second day's search saw collaboration between the police, fire department, California Highway Patrol, and the U.S. Coast Guard, demonstrating a multi-agency approach to handling the critical situation, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Efforts to locate him were still going strong today, with the fire department's and other authorities' added support.
