A man in Worcester has been arrested following a confrontation with city sanitation workers that escalated into threats of violence with a firearm. According to a Worcester Police Department Facebook post, the incident took place yesterday while the workers were engaged in their daily waste collection routine.
Reports suggest that the workers inadvertently came into contact with a vehicle while loading trash into their truck on Crompton St. This seemingly mundane act appears to have fueled a fiery response from 32-year-old Juan Montalvo, who was alleged to have started to scream at the workers and threatened to kill them. According to the Worcester Police Department's social media post, Montalvo held a firearm by his side during the altercation. Police were promptly alerted and arrived on the scene to defuse the situation. They were able to quickly locate and arrest Montalvo as he attempted to leave his residence.
Montalvo now faces charges of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Firearm) following his apprehension. The incident took a turn when officers, executing a search warrant later in the day, discovered what they described as fentanyl inside his apartment. This led to additional charges of Possession of Fentanyl with Intent to Distribute being levied against him. The link between the original altercation and the narcotics found within Montalvo's residence remains to be clarified.
