Early this morning, officers from the Worcester Police Vice Squad executed a search warrant at an apartment on Plum St., where they apprehended and arrested three individuals on various charges related to drug trafficking and firearms violations.
According to the official Worcester Police Department social media post, the incident unfolded swiftly as one suspect attempted to dispose of a loaded handgun by tossing it out of the window, which was promptly recovered by officers. At approximately 6:30 AM, after entering the residence, officers detained three individuals and seized substances believed to be cocaine, fentanyl, and crack cocaine, along with a significant cache of ammunition and drug distribution paraphernalia.
The individuals in question, identified as Drayal Perez Deaza, aged 25; Karina Vargas, aged 27; and Lisbed Rodriguez, aged 41, are facing a slew of charges, including possession of illegal drugs with intent to distribute and firearm-related offenses. Perez Deaza and Vargas are facing particularly serious charges related to trafficking and possession of firearms, with Vargas charged with trafficking a slightly smaller amount of fentanyl than Deaza.
Rodriguez, who was also subject to an outstanding arrest warrant, found themselves facing additional charges stemming from alleged involvement in the possession of drugs with intent to distribute. The search resulted in the seizure of what law enforcement officials believe to be significant quantities of narcotics and unlicensed firearms equipment, illustrative of a more extensive network of criminal activity that the Vice Squad continually works to dismantle.
