
A 12-year-old boy has been charged with aggravated vehicular hijacking involving a firearm, along with attempting to receive, possess, or sell a stolen vehicle, according to an official release by the Chicago Police Department. The young offender was arrested yesterday afternoon in the 1500 block of W. 70th St., following the reported carjacking of a 45-year-old woman.
The incident, which unfolded yesterday, saw the juvenile suspect allegedly wielding a gun to take control of a vehicle in the 6900 block of S. Laflin St. in Chicago's 7th District., He was also accused of attempting to steal another vehicle at that same location just minutes prior. In the aftermath of these events, authorities were able to locate and apprehend the suspected individual, who was then positively identified as the perpetrator.
Upon his arrest at 3:17 p.m., the juvenile was taken into custody, where he now faces serious legal repercussions.
The Chicago Police Department has not released additional information about the victim or the current status of the juvenile offender.
