Following an operation on Friday last week, federal authorities indicted 14 individuals for their alleged involvement in a violent drug trafficking ring in Indianapolis. The charges include conspiracy to distribute controlled substances, kidnapping, and using firearms in drug trafficking crimes, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office of the Southern District of Indiana.
The indictment names Tanesha M. Turner and Charles T. Dunson as key defendants, facing charges related to drug conspiracy and firearms offenses. Turner is also charged with kidnapping, and Dunson with possession of a machine gun. Both are convicted felons. Law enforcement is seeking help to locate Lamar T. Browning, a fugitive considered armed and dangerous. Information can be shared through the 1-800-CALL-FBI hotline.
The group is accused of distributing methamphetamine, heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine from trap houses in Indianapolis and surrounding areas. They allegedly used extreme violence, including murder, shootings, and Molotov cocktail attacks, to maintain control over the local drug trade. For instance, Nahamani I. Sargent is accused of firing shots and using firebombs at a customer’s home, suspecting the individual of being an informant.
The group’s violence also included Tre Dunn, who is accused of murdering a man after a drug deal dispute. Dunn is also alleged to have shot a victim over money owed. Turner is accused of helping Dunn escape to avoid arrest, showing the group's violent tactics used to control their operations.
These arrests are part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice to dismantle illegal immigration, cartels, and violent criminal organizations across the U.S. This operation involved the FBI, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, and other agencies.
