Gun violence disrupted the Dutchtown neighborhood earlier this week, with a 19-year-old man involved in a shooting that seems to have resulted from a drug deal gone wrong, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
On March 21, around 5:30 PM, officers responded to a shooting on S. Compton Ave. They found bullet casings and blood on the street. After searching the area, they located a teenage victim in a nearby apartment, seeking help after being shot, as reported by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
The victim was treated by paramedics and taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition. Authorities say the shooting happened while the young man was trying to buy marijuana when shots were fired near his vehicle. The suspects then fled in a silver sedan, leaving the victim to seek help at a nearby apartment, as stated by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.
No suspect information has been released as investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the local police department, as community cooperation can be critical in resolving such violent encounters and preventing future tragedies. The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department has not yet disclosed any updates on the condition of the 19-year-old or the pursuit of the suspects involved.
