West Palm Beach police arrested 23-year-old Kelly Louis in connection with the murder of 42-year-old Nelsonne Alezie. According to CBS12, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office released an arrest report on yesterday, linking Louis to the deadly shooting that took place on Cherry Road on Wednesday.
Witnesses reported hearing gunshots and saw Louis fleeing the scene with a firearm. Deputies found Alezie deceased, having suffered 10 gunshot wounds, and located seven spent .40 caliber casings. Surveillance footage showed Louis driving away in a black Ford Fusion. WPBF reports that detectives believe the shooting may have been targeted, though the motive is still unclear.
Louis was arrested on an unrelated warrant, and his vehicle was found in a 7-Eleven parking lot. During questioning, Louis admitted to driving the vehicle and placing his father’s license plate on it, but he invoked his right to counsel when asked about the license plate’s whereabouts. A search of the vehicle revealed a Glock 22C .40 caliber pistol, ammunition, and clothing matching witness descriptions.
Forensic analysis confirmed that the casings from the crime scene matched the firearm found in Louis's vehicle. He was charged with first-degree murder with a firearm and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail without bond. Louis is awaiting his first court appearance.
