
A serious collision occurred on Palm Avenue in the Egger Highlands neighborhood, where a 51-year-old woman driving a Ford Explorer struck a 45-year-old male bicyclist. The incident took place at roughly 7:39 pm last night, and the injured cyclist has been taken to a local hospital with life-threatening conditions, according to a press release from the San Diego Police Department.
Witnesses say the bicyclist was heading south across Palm Avenue when he entered the SUV's path, resulting in the crash. However, the exact sequence of events is still under investigation, as the Traffic Division of the San Diego Police Department is investigating all the factors involved, including the road conditions and signage at the time of the accident. Alcohol has been ruled out as a contributing factor.
