The body of 67-year-old Vincent Grasso was found in a pond in St. Lucie County yesteday morning. The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that divers recovered his body from a pond about 45 feet into the water, located near Savannas Preserve State Park, in the 7800 block of Bromeliad Circle, as reported by TC Palm.

According to WPBF, early yesterday around 8:15 a.m., passersby found personal items near the pond, including flip-flops, a flashlight, and a diabetic test device. An acquaintance of Grasso recognized the items and alerted his wife, leading to a 911 call at 8:25 a.m. Deputies then received assistance from the Port St. Lucie Police Department, using a bloodhound named Hoot to track Grasso's movements from his home to the pond.

Camera footage confirmed Grasso left his home around 12:20 a.m. that morning. During the search, divers had to be cautious due to the presence of five large alligators in the area, with a sergeant overseeing their safety, as noted by WPBF. Grasso’s body was found tethered to a cinder block. The cause of death is still under investigation.
