As hurricane season approaches, Boynton Beach is offering a free one-week vegetation amnesty period from May 5 to May 9. As per the City of Boynton Beach, during this time, residents can dispose of unlimited green waste at no cost. The service is provided by the city's Solid Waste Division to help reduce airborne hazards in the event of a storm.

Residents are encouraged to place their vegetation curbside the day before their regular pick-up schedule. While the amnesty period allows for unlimited green waste disposal, all items must still meet the city's standard size and placement requirements. Outside of the amnesty period, residents are limited to 3 cubic yards of green waste per week.

To help prepare for storms, homeowners are advised to maintain their landscaping by pruning trees and shrubs, removing dead or weak limbs, and ensuring air circulation through branches to reduce the risk of damage during high winds.

For more information, residents can call (561) 742-6200, option 2, during business hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
