Residents and workers in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood are on high alert after a series of armed robberies targeting delivery drivers. According to a community notification distributed by the Chicago Police Department, the recent string of crimes occurred within the 7th District, where perpetrators have been forcefully taking vehicles and personal property from their victims at gunpoint.
The robberies have been marked by a daunting consistency, with one of the latest occurring on the 6800 block of South Ada Street on March 7, 2025, at 10:55 AM, not far from a similarly brazen robbery that took place on the same block over a year prior. Witnesses and victims described the suspect to authorities as an African-American male who was reported to be wearing a black ski mask and a gray hooded sweatshirt and was armed with a gray handgun.
CPD is urging the public, and particularly those in the delivery industry, to stay vigilant and to also mindfully observe their surroundings. They encourage anyone who finds themselves in a threatening situation to try to remain calm and to make an effort to memorize any distinctive features of the assailant. Residents have been advised to "never pursue a fleeing assailant" but rather to focus on providing detailed information to the authorities. They stress the importance of calling 9-1-1 immediately and, if safe, remaining on the scene to assist with police inquiries.
