Chicago residents are bracing for a week marked by fluctuating weather conditions, from a chilly start to potential thunderstorms midweek. According to the National Weather Service, skies are expected to clear today, becoming mostly sunny with a high near 43°F. However, the cold Canadian air lingering over the region will keep temperatures on the cooler side, with the north wind blowing 10 to 15 mph and gusts up to 20 mph.

Tonight's forecast predicts partly cloudy skies, with low temperatures hovering around 33°F. The calm before the storm will continue into Tuesday, which is slated to be partly sunny, and highs are anticipated in the mid-40s. A change is looming, though, as there's a 90% chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 1 a.m. on Tuesday night, coupled with breezy conditions as gusts could reach as high as 30 mph, per the National Weather Service.
The wet weather will continue into Wednesday with a 100% chance of showers and possibly a thunderstorm, bringing unseasonably high temperatures near 67°F, as reported buy the NWS. By evening, the chances of precipitation drop to 30%, transitioning to a partly cloudy night with a low around 46°F. Looking ahead, Chicagoans can expect mostly sunny skies on Thursday with a high near 57°F before the clouds return Thursday night.
As for the weekend forecast, there's a chance of showers both Saturday and Sunday, with temperatures expected to be in the low 50s. Fox32 Chicago notes, "Then the forecast focus once again shifts to the risk of thunderstorms, possibly severe, late Tuesday night then again on Wednesday."
