Chicago has witnessed a grim chapter in its ongoing struggle with violent crime, as 36-year-old Andre Moses stands accused of the armed robbery of a senior citizen. Moses, a resident from the 2900 block of W. Polk in Chicago, Illinois, was charged with one felony count of armed robbery with a firearm and another count of robbing a victim who is either handicapped or over 60 years old, a particularly vulnerable demographic in these harrowing incidents. The charges stem from an incident that occurred on February 10, according to the Chicago Police Department's news release.
Members of the Chicago Police Department together with the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended Moses on Tuesday, near his residence. The arrest was the culmination of investigative efforts which led to him being identified as the suspect who allegedly robbed the elderly male at gunpoint in the 600 block of N. Laramie, as reported by the Chicago Police Department.
Moses faces a detention hearing at 2600 S. California. The hearing for Andre Moses was held yesterday, where the gravity of the situation weighed heavily on all present. The Chicago Police Department has yet to release further details on this case.
