On a recent Saturday morning, a band of motorcyclists on Interstate 5 and Interstate 805 found themselves halted and cited by California Highway Patrol officers. The event occurred when the group, reportedly executing risky maneuvers and stunts, disrupted the flow on northbound I-805 beginning at Imperial Avenue and continued for nearly 24 miles. According to a social media post by CHP Oceanside, the riders were stopped when they exited I-5 at Via De La Valle in Solana Beach around 8:30 a.m.
The CHP officers quickly acted, directing the motorcyclists into a parking area for detention, after which 30 misdemeanor citations were issued. Cited offenses included street racing, reckless driving, and being active spectators of illegal activity. Additionally, all 30 motorcycles involved in the incident were impounded as a part of the enforcement actions taken that day.
In a statement by Oceanside Captain Brad Palmer, the intent of the CHP was clear, "The CHP remains committed to protecting the community and ensuring California’s roads are safe," Palmer said, per CHP Oceanside.
