Centerville residents experienced a burst of emergency activity last night as emergency responders rushed to a scene where a car had made an unexpected detour into a house on Old Stage Road. According to Boston 25 News, the accident occurred around 8:40 p.m., prompting an immediate response from the Barnstable police and Centerville Fire crews.

Found suffering from injuries, the driver of the car had the unfortunate turn of events to be off the road, after the vehicle reportedly struck a utility pole guide wire before colliding with a home, a fence, as well as a temporary power meter, though the latter was not in service at the time. The unfortunate home struck by the car was located at 139 Old Stage Road.

Following the incident, the injured party was promptly transported to Cape Cod Airfield in Marstons Mills. There, a Medflight helicopter was on standby to take them to Rhode Island Hospital for further treatment.

With the integrity of the house compromised, the Barnstable Town Building Inspector was summoned to the scene to assess the damage. "Due to the damage to the structure," officials had to investigate the house's safety, Boston 25 News stated following the crash's aftermath.

Details surrounding the cause of the crash are still being investigated. WHDH reports that no additional information was immediately available, with the cause of the crash remaining a question yet answered.
