
A collision occurred this morning in Fort Lauderdale involving an SUV and a Coca-Cola tractor-trailer, leaving one person hospitalized. The incident, reported around 6:30 a.m. on State Road 84 off Interstate 95, was confirmed by Local10. The Fort Lauderdale Police stated that the SUV rear-ended the tractor-trailer with enough force that the driver had to be extricated by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.
The driver, trapped with serious injuries, was freed in less than 30 minutes and was transported to Broward Health Medical Center, according to WSVN.
The accident caused significant traffic delays. Westbound SR 84, between Southwest 15th Avenue and Southwest 23rd Terrace, was fully closed. Drivers were urged to use Interstate 595 or Griffin Road as alternate routes, as NBC Miami reported. An exit ramp from I-95 northbound to Marina Mile westbound was also closed, diverting westbound traffic on Marina Mile.
