A freak incident on Utah's Interstate 15 has left a driver hospitalized after a turkey smashed through their car windshield, the bird sadly did not survive the collision. According to KUTV, crews from Garland Fire Department responded to the accident where the driver had hit a turkey crossing the road, resulting in the creature breaking through the glass and inflicting non-life-threatening injuries on the individual behind the wheel.
The somewhat bizarre nature of the crash, occurring just before the 385 exit on the busy interstate, is a strong reminder of the unexpected perils motorists face while traveling at high speeds, especially when wildlife is involved, the Garland Fire Department highlighted the incident on their social media and said "There are plenty of dangers when traveling at high speeds down the interstate, including turkeys," as reported by Fox News. Despite the ill fate of the turkey, the motorist was fortunate to have sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and was even described as being "in good spirits" while being transported to the local hospital.
Images shared by the Garland Fire Department on their Facebook page depicted a severely damaged windshield alongside feathers scattered across the driver's seat, a stark visual testament to the sudden and violent encounter. The driver, whose name has not been disclosed, was traveling on the northward lanes of I-15 at the time of the impact with the unfortunate turkey, FOX 9 reported.
