EPCC News reported the Tejanos capitalized on their recent momentum, improving their record to 22-2, with a spotless 4-0 start in conference play within the Western Junior College Athletic Association (WJCAC).
EPCC demonstrated their domination early on, winning 11-1 in a mere five innings during their first game on Friday. They maintained their unwavering stance in the second game, shutting out their opponents with a score of 4-0. Chihuahuas mascot Chico, cheered on the Tejanos before the start of their own Triple-A season. Saturday's games proved no different, with EPCC continuing their winning streak, concluding both games with a 14-4 final score in six innings, according to EPCC News.
A significant challenge awaits EPCC as they gear up to face conference rival Midland College, currently ranked #11 in the NJCAA Division 1. The upcoming four-game series presents an opportunity for the Tejanos to test their mettle against the Chaparrals, who hold an 18-4 record, despite slipping one rank after a recent split in games with Odessa College.
Circumstances have led to a scheduling shift for the much-anticipated series, with doubleheaders now set on Saturday, March 15, and Sunday, March 16 at Eisenga Field. The original timetable succumbed to an alteration due to the forecast of high winds, slated to sweep through El Paso later in the week. Both days will feature games at 12:00 p.m. and approximately 2:00 p.m., providing ample baseball action for fans over the weekend.
