EPC Sheriff's Office announced the recognition, honoring her exceptional efforts that followed the enactment of SB24-072 in 2024.
The newly passed legislation made it imperative that all eligible incarcerated citizens were granted the opportunity to cast their votes. "Kayla stepped up, demonstrating outstanding initiative and coordination to make in-person voting at the jail a reality," as stated by the EPC Sheriff's Office. Her dedication involved extensive coordination across various entities, including the El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office and Colorado Voter Registration, ensuring each step of the process adhered to the mandated requirements.
