In a grim incident in Libertyville, a 70-year-old woman lost her life Sunday evening after being struck by an SUV, local authorities confirmed. The accident occurred at approximately 8:25 p.m. at the crossroads of Illinois Route 176 and Fourth Avenue, as reported by ABC7 Chicago.
The Libertyville Police Department stated that a westbound Honda Pilot on Route 176 collided with the woman as she was near the intersection. Upon arrival, officers found the victim on the road and initiated life-saving measures. She was promptly taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center with critical injuries, but, was later pronounced dead, as detailed by FOX 32 Chicago.
The driver of the Honda Pilot, who reportedly remained at the scene following the collision, was unharmed, as per FOX 32 Chicago. Police are actively investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal incident.
