
In Escondido, a strategic crackdown by the local police has led to the significant arrest of a gang member, now facing multiple felonies. The Escondido Police Department disclosed via their official Facebook page that the operation occurred yesterday. Officers from the Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (COPPS) unit, along with the Crime Suppression Team (CST), were patrolling the 600 block of W 3rd Ave, which is known for drug activity.
During the patrol, law enforcement encountered a known gang member and convicted felon. The individual was found with an arsenal of weapons, including an unregistered AR-15-style assault rifle and a loaded revolver. In addition to the firearms, over 250 grams of marijuana, as well as quantities of fentanyl and methamphetamine, were seized.
Following the arrest, the suspect was booked into county jail on 14 felony drug and firearm offenses.
