
Tragedy struck the community of Escondido last Saturday when a vehicle struck and killed a pedestrian on East Washington Ave. The incident was responded to by Escondido Police at approximately 11:56 PM in the 1100 block, according to a report published by the Escondido Police Department. Unfortunately, despite quick action from first responders, the victim's life could not be saved.
Upon arrival, officers found the victim injured in the roadway and performed CPR until Escondido Fire Paramedics arrived to transport the individual to Palomar Medical Center quickly. It was there that the victim was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle involved reportedly remained at the scene and fully cooperated with police as they actively investigated the circumstances surrounding the accident. Notably, the driver was not arrested or cited immediately following the incident.
