A liquor store on Chicago's South Side became the scene of a violent altercation that escalated into a shootout last Friday night. According to WGN-TV, around 10:30 p.m., two groups inside Goldmore Food & Liquors, located in the 1900 block of West 51st Street in the Back of the Yards neighborhood, got into a heated argument. The disagreement turned physical, and a 22-year-old woman reportedly drew her gun and began shooting, followed by a male accomplice who continued firing.

In an exchange of bullets, a man who was with the second group involved returned fire on the alleged shooters, police said. Five individuals were injured as a result of the shootout, including the woman who first opened fire. The Chicago Police Department has not found any firearms on the scene and, as of now, the chain of events that led to the initial argument remains unclear. The second shooter managed to flee the scene, and it's not yet confirmed if they are among the injured.

Two men, aged 48 and 22, were critically wounded and are receiving medical treatment at the University of Chicago Medical Center and Stroger Hospital, respectively. A 61-year-old woman sustained a minor graze wound but refused medical services, while a 46-year-old man was also injured and is reported to be in good condition. The 22-year-old female suspect, who took herself to the hospital after sustaining injuries to her heel and thigh, was taken into custody, with ABC 7 Chicago noting that charges are pending. Area One detectives have taken up the investigation.
