Fort Lauderdale residents and visitors should prepare for potential traffic disruptions early next month. Florida Power & Light is set to undertake underground utility work as part of the city’s infrastructure modernization, which may cause roadblocks. Scheduled to kick off at the start of April, these disruptions are part of a moving operation that will see intermittent road closures along several streets including SW 12th Ct, SW 14th Ave, SW 13th St, SW 13th Ct, SW 15th Ave, SW 15th Ter, and SW 16th St, according to a recent announcement from the City of Fort Lauderdale.
Road closures will take place from April 1 through April 9, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily. These closures will occur each day as crews perform work on the infrastructure. Detour signs will be in place to direct drivers along alternate routes.
Local access will remain open, allowing residents to reach their properties. Florida Power & Light has stated that the closures will be partial, affecting traffic flow but not preventing residents from accessing their homes. However, drivers passing through the area should plan accordingly to avoid potential delays or allow extra time for their commutes.
