Fort Lauderdale residents and commuters faced unexpected detours today due to a 16-inch sewer force main break at the intersection of Cordova Road and SE 15th Street in the Harbordale neighborhood. The break, which caused an undisclosed amount of discharge, led to road closures while repairs are underway. The City of Fort Lauderdale confirmed that the discharge is no longer active.
As repairs continue, the eastbound SE 15th Street is closed from SE 10th Avenue to Cordova Road. Both directions of Cordova Road between SE 15th Street and SE 16th Street are also closed. Drivers are urged to follow posted signs, drive with caution, and seek alternative routes where possible.
Those with questions or concerns can contact the city at 954-828-8000. Updates on the repair work and changes to road conditions will be posted on the city's news page.
