
In Fort Pierce, Florida, the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office responded to a scene where two dogs were found dead, hanging from a tree in the backyard of a residence. The incident led to the arrest of Salomon Cruz-Perez, 42, on charges of animal cruelty, according to CBS12.
Detectives, working with Crime Scene Investigators, discovered that the dogs were bound with coaxial cable, paracord, tie-down straps, and chains.
The dogs, a male and a female, were found in the garden of a property located on the 2100 Block of Dade Road. The investigation began at 5:29 p.m., and the severity of the case led to the involvement of detectives and crime scene investigators. Authorities have assured the public that there is no ongoing threat to safety while the investigation continues.
St. Lucie Animal Control has taken the deceased dogs into their care and transported them to Orlando for a necropsy to determine the cause of death.
Cruz-Perez faces two counts of Aggravated Animal Cruelty with Death, as reported by the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office on Facebook.
Cruz-Perez is being held at St. Lucie County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
