Residents of Goodyear and Glendale, Arizona are set for a uniquely convenient voting experience, as the cities prepare for an all-mail jurisdictional election on May 20, during which ballots will be sent directly to all registered voters. According to an announcement released on Maricopa County Recorder's website, this decision means there will be no vote centers, aiming to streamline the process and increase voter turnout by delivering the voting experience straight to people's mailboxes.
The voter registration deadline is slated for April 21, with the online portal BeBallotReady.Vote serving as a one-stop-shop to help residents review their registration details.
For military personnel and overseas voters, additional planning has been taken into account; their ballots will be shipped no later than April 5, which is 45 days in advance of the election, as reported by Maricopa County Recorder's website. Local residents can get ahead of the game by registering or updating their address at AZMVDnow.gov, ensuring they won't miss their chance to participate due to outdated information.
All ballots need to make it back by 7:00 p.m. on the election day, with the option to mail them back or drop them at designated locations, and while postmarks won't count every ballot returned ensures a voice in the community, the Maricopa County Recorder's Office emphasizes the importance of sending back those ballots early, recommending they be in the mail by May 13, to ensure they're counted.
Those with a temporary change of address need to act quickly. Voters must email [email protected] or call 602-506-1511 to provide an alternate mailing address. The Recorder Office will handle the redirection of election material to ensure every eligible voter gets their say, no matter their location.
