A 61-year-old Jorge Arbaiza, was fatally caught in a crossfire at a McDonald's near West Little York and North Fry Road. According to KHOU 11, Arbaiza was there to simply to buy Happy Meals for his grandchildren when he became an unintended victim of a shootout between two groups.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office reports that young people were involved in the altercation, where gunfire followed an escalated fight within the establishment, leading to Arbaiza's death and injury to a 25-year-old man, who is expected to recover. Teresa Arbaiza, the victim's wife, was waiting with their grandchildren in the parking lot when she noticed the chaos unfolding and frantically called her husband. "I couldn't leave the kids alone — I could not go inside — the kids were crying, and they were scared," she told KHOU 11, recounting the ordeal and the last words she heard from her husband: "'I'm dying, I'm going to die.'"

The loss has greatly impacted the Arbaiza family, who are now facing profound grief instead of celebrating an upcoming milestone. "He was the best grandfather," Zoila Garcia, Jorge's sister-in-law, told Click2Houston. "He would give everything the kids wanted." The upcoming 40th wedding anniversary that Jorge and Teresa Arbaiza were supposed to celebrate soon has been replaced with funeral plans.

Investigators are currently searching for those responsible for the shootout. A vehicle believed to be connected to some of the suspects has been located, but no arrests have as yet been made. Teresa Arbaiza urgently appealed to the individuals involved in the violent dispute: "If they have beef between them, please don’t resolve it with gun violence when there are innocent people around," she stated to Click2Houston. Law enforcement continues to ask for the public’s assistance, urging anyone with information to reach out to the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
