The Holyoke Police Department took 45-year-old Luis Rodriguez-Martinez into custody on a recent Friday afternoon. This followed a month-long investigation by Detective Melissa Rex into allegations of child sexual assault, according to an official Facebook post from the police department.
Police Chief Brian Keenan noted that the arrest took place at an apartment on Spring Street around 3:45 p.m., this development emerged after Detective Rex applied for and obtained an arrest warrant from the Holyoke District Court, Rodriguez-Martinez faces multiple charges including aggravated rape of a child, and dissemination of obscene matter to a minor, his arraignment followed in the Holyoke District Court where he was slapped with a $25,000 bail.
According to the department's announcement, the collaborative effort leading to Rodriguez-Martinez's arrest involved Detectives Rex, David Seidel, Brendan Boyle, James Parnell and Jared Hamel, under the direction of Lt. Michael McMahon.
The specific charges brought against Rodriguez-Martinez include two counts of dissemination of obscene matter to a minor, two counts of intimidation of a witness and two counts of threat to commit a crime, he also faces four counts of aggravated rape of a child, two counts of rape of a child with force; indecent assault and battery on a child under 14-years-old, engaging in sexual conduct with a child under 18-year-old for a fee, an attempt to commit a crime, and assault and battery; due to the ongoing nature of the investigation and the severity of the alleged crimes no further details are available at this time, the police reiterated.
