A macabre discovery was made Tuesday evening at a West Valley City pond, where human remains were found by an individual engaged in fishing. According to KSL, the bones were sighted near the edge of the pond, located near 4220 W. Lake Park Boulevard, just after 7 p.m.
The angler was at the Stonebridge Golf Course fishing pond, a site nestled just west of Bangerter Highway, between Lake Park Boulevard and Parkway Boulevard, when they made the grisly find. Officers who arrived at the scene later confirmed that the bones were indeed those of a human being, as reported by KUTV.
West Valley police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku stated that a person fishing made the initial discovery of what appeared to be bones near the pond's edge. This prompted police action, and detectives subsequently recovered a collection of human bones. The investigation into the identity of the remains has hit a roadblock, however, as there are no unsolved homicides in the area to provide immediate leads. "It could be difficult to figure out who the bones belong to," said Merritt, as per KSL NewsRadio.
